Meetings
|
You spoke and KRW listened! Based on feedback from our member survey, KRW meetings will be on the SECOND SUNDAY of each month from 2:00pm -4:00 pm. The default place for meetings will be at the Starbucks inside side the Hurstbourne Parkway Barnes & Noble. If we have a speaker, however, we will select a different venue in advance.

Meetings will no longer have a formal business component aside from one general meeting per year in December. Pursuant to our bylaws, most business will now be handled by the KRW Board.

It's that time of year again! We will be holding KRW elections for President-Elect and Treasurer in the last two weeks of October. Please see below for information from our by-laws about qualifications and expectations for these roles. Please note that the term of Treasurer is two years And please reach out to the current President-Elect (Marilyn Barr) and Treasurer (Krissie White) if you have any questions. If you decide to run, please send an email to krw@kentuckianaromancewriters.com by October 1st.

5.2 Qualifications. In order to be eligible for a Board position (whether elected or appointed), a candidate must: (1) be a General member of KRW; (2) have been a General member of KRW for a minimum of six months before taking office; (3) not have a material conflict of interest that would disqualify the person from holding the intended office.
|
4.2.3 President-Elect. The President-Elect shall assist the President in the performance of the President’s duties; serve as a nonvoting ex-officio member of all committees; assume the duties of the President in the event that the President is incapacitated or otherwise unable to perform; preside over all meetings of the Board of Directors and the membership in the absence of the President; and fulfill any other obligations designated by the Board of Directors.

4.2.5 Treasurer. The Treasurer shall be responsible for collecting dues and sending out timely notices for dues renewals; notify the Board of delinquent members; supervise the collection and disbursement of KRW funds; keep the financial records of KRW in good order; work with the Secretary in maintaining the list of KRW members; provide an accurate and up-to-date financial statement to the Board at least every six months; present the annual audited report to the members; and fulfill any other obligations designated by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall comply with KRW Record Retention Schedule.

5.3.2 President-Elect. The term of President-Elect is for one year unless the then- President extends the term of Presidency to two years with the Board's approval as outlined above. If the then-President chooses to serve two years, then the term of President-Elect will be two years.

5.3.4 Treasurer. The Treasurer shall serve a term of two years. Elections for the position of Treasurer shall occur in even-calendar years.

Sound of a Wylder Silence by Marilyn Barr will be released on October 12th, 2022. This book is the highly-anticipated sequel to Dance to a Wylder Beat, the 2021 Imadjinn award winner for best paranormal romance at the Imaginarium Convention and Crowned Heart award winner from InD'Tale magazine.

Song of Virgo by Kat Turner will be released on October 4th, 2022 with City Owl Press. This book is the third installment of the award-winning Coven Daughters paranormal romance series, with books 1 and 2 receiving recommendations by Publisher's Weekly and the Paranormal Romance Guild.

October Meeting
KRW's next meeting will be October 9th from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Barnes & Noble at 801 S. Hurstbourne Parkway. Look for us inside at the Starbucks. Bring your notebook or laptop and get ready to sprint for an hour, followed by some social time.
